Day 57
This week has been fairly uneventful, but I will bother you with a blog anyway. Joe has been getting mail more frequently. Yeah, I overreacted just a tad, it happens. And they are building a new DFAC that will be run by civilians, not Army cooks. Joe is under the impression this will help with the food issues. And he says that he currently has enough food through care packages that he shouldnt have to eat dinner chow until the new place is finished.
Joe lost his grandma this week. She went into the hospital over 3 weeks ago. After being over medicated at one hospital, the family moved her to a heart specialist. They gave her a good prodnosis and we all thought she would be okay. But last Friday she took a turn for the worse. And then I got the phone call from my mother in law. Ugh. A little over 3 years ago I got a very similar phone call about Joe's grandpa. He's been overseas for both of their passings. He was in Germany when his grandpa died. But I had to tell him in an IM. I tried to think of the easiest way to break the news, but just like 3 years ago, it wasnt easy to do this weekend either. My mom and dad were kind enough to go to the visitation for the family. And I think my mom is sending a plant. She lost her father over 10 years ago. She knows what to say far more than I do.
I'm still doing paperwork to get this job. I cant wait to start working and getting a paycheck! But just like any government job, the paperwork is insane!!
And there is this horrible rumor that my parents could be coming out here in June. I'm so excited!!

I'm really happy to hear that the mail situation is at least acceptable now! I'm also so sorry to hear about Joe's grandmother, everything always happens while they are gone. I hope you're doing well!
