PCS

Yep, it's official. Joe and I are PCSing to Ft. Carson, CO. Everyone tells me it's a great place to be moving to. As I understand it, it's a huge town, well, Colorado Springs is anyway. Which is a good thing and a bad thing. I'm not a big city gal. I hate traffic. I hate people. LOL, okay, I dont hate people, I just dislike them in huge groups. But the pictures I have see are just amazing! The mountains are always in the background. Gorgeous! I have been to the Rocky Mountains once. I was very young. We rode a tram to the top.

This is technically my first PCS. When Joe and I moved here, all of my stuff was packed up in my parents' house. And Joe was moving from Germany. We made it. But it was a rough move. I didn't have a clue what was going on. I had lived in exactly two places in my adult life. And NEVER had to hook up water and cable by myself. I hope that this next move is a little easier. The little things are driving me nuts though. I need to stop worrying; it will all be taken care of. But still, I cant help but worry about the little things. Do Army movers pack up food? I've heard they will pack up your trash if you don't stop them. How do I move my car payment? Is that just a phone call? How to I transfer the car registration? The DMV here in KS has our title since it's still being paid for. How do I move that? The rest of it is just logistics. Moving the stuff. Canceling the water and cable. Quiting my job (yay!!). Losing all my best friends (boo!!). Finding somewhere to live. And making it a home. It'll happen. I just need to calm down.

And again, I feel like a newbie. And it sucks!
So all of my seasoned military friends... any advice?

yay for Ft. Carson. I've been in Colo Springs for(ever). It's not really a "big city". Traffic backs up with construction but it's not bad. :) Good thing is you have a TON of options for living; on post (there is new housing but not a lot of it; good luck with that) and off post there are tons of apartments and other houses to rent in the area. You're coming from Ft. Riley? it's about 7 hr drive so I'd just drive your car vs. "shipping" it.
Welcome to Carson! :) "Best Hometown in the Army" ! ~ at least that's what they tell me going through the gate. ha ha

It's so cool to hear from people that currently live there! A co-worker just PCSed from there. She said she was jealous of my move. Told me to enjoy it as much as I could.

Definitely trying to live off post.

Are you on Twitter? I'm sara0120.

One of my best friends and her husband live there now, and they LOVE it! I also hear there's a really fun country-western bar there called Cowboys, haha :) I haven't been there yet, but I hear it's great. I hope you enjoy it!
