Happy Long Weekend!

It seems almost too perfect that Valentine's Day fell on a 4-day weekend for Joe. We arent super Valentine's Day people. We're not really flower arangement people either. Joe remembered that I've wanted a lemon tree of my very own for quite a while. We ordered one about a week ago. It's not here yet, but it was basically my Valentine's Day present. I'll take a pic of it when it gets here.
Joe wanted a very special port. But we havent been able to find it here, or even have it ordered. So we compromised.... on a $60 bottle of port. We discovered port about a year ago and have been searching for the perfect bottle ever since. Well, apparantly that perfect bottle is $60. But I'm a good wife and let him have it. I mean, any flower arrangement will be at least $50 and they die within the week. This bottle of port makes us far happier than any flower arrangement would.
We decided that instead of playing into the stupid card and chocolate holiday, we would make our own traditions for V-Day. We went out to an early dinner because I hate crowds. Then we went to Bed Bath and Beyond to buy new pillows for the living room. Joe hates the ones we currently have. And he figures I will have the new ones perfectly broken in by the time he gets home. Then we went home and watched movies all night.
Maybe it's the ((VERY)) looming deployment, but we're not taking any of this time together for granted. Joe holds my hand all the time. It's a weird throwback to the times of dating and courtship. We start to get into a heated discussion that wont end well and we just look at each other, kiss, and end it right then and there. We got in a big fight last week and we both decided that it was a stupid waste of time. Precious time.

Hey, try Home Goods off Powers by Super Target! they have the best prices for high thread count bedding, home decorations. my husband has an affection for Tommy Bahama, so we bought a set of 2 TB pillows for $16, and they are worth EVERY PENNY! :) love Home Goods.

Good for You! sometimes the most romantic thing a couple can do is whatever they want, not necessarily traditional!

I'm so glad you guys are treasuring these last moments together. There's a tendency to start picking fights, and hubby and I have done that a lot... before he left this last time we could hardly stand each other. But we pulled it together in time to realize we were being stupid. It's stressful, and people react differently. Sounds like y'all are doing it the best way you know how and that you had a wonderful and simple Valentine's Day. Those are the best kind!
