Hello Readers!! We have a great giveaway for you all!! In honor of the upcoming Military Spouse Appreciation Day, Friday, May 7, 2010, my Scentsy consultant, Patty, is sponsoring a giveaway for three different military spouses. She's asked me to host one giveaway on my blog. What follows is a little bit about the product and my review and then how to enter the contest. Good luck everyone!! Grab @MommyTaco's Giveaway Button!
What is Scentsy?
Scentsy wickless candles are a safe alternative to standard wicked candles. They use a highly scented wax that is warmed over a low-watt bulb. Because the wax does not dissipate while it is warmed, the only thing released into the air that you breathe is the fragrance. Full-sized warmers use a 25-watt bulb that melts the wax to the perfect kid and pet-safe temperature. Because the wax is melted at a much lower temperature, spills are quick and easy to clean up in the event that little fingers or paws got over curious. Changing scents is easy too - it can be poured directly back into the container if there is still fragrance left or straight into your lined trash bin. Simply wipe the warmer dish clean with a paper towel and add another piece of wax.

Who is my Scentsy consultant?
Patty is an Army wife who recently became a Scentsy independent consultant so that she can share one of her favorite things with her friends: Scentsy wickless warmers. Patty knows that it can be hard to feel at home when the military often requires families to move to new locations every few years. Scentsy helps create a warm, inviting atmosphere that helps make a house feel more like a home. She believes that the sense of smell is the main sense that triggers memories. With over 80 scents to choose from, Scentsy will not only bring back fond memories but help keep memories created in our new homes smelling familiar and comforting. In participation of the upcoming Military Spouse Appreciation Day, Patty would like to sponsor a blog give-a-way to three fellow Military Spouses. The contests will be held on three Military Spouse blogs, where each will have one winner.

What do I think about Scentsy?
Patty sent a warmer and three scents of my choice for me to review. I got the Wynken Full-Sized Warmer and the scents Sugar, White Tea & Cactus, and Lilacs & Violets. I've never reviewed a product for a blog giveaway so I wanted to make sure I was objective. I must say, the "pro" list is much longer than the "con" list. There is very little I can find wrong with the Scentsy system. First a few things I like about Scentsy...
1. Easy to change the smell.
I've always been a candle lover. While living alone, my unique likes in candles and room sprays didnt matter. But as many married women know, our men dont like the same things we do. With Scentsy, you can change the scent in just a matter of seconds. So when your husband or mother or best friend comes over and doesnt care for your favorite scent, let them pick what goes in the warmer next. Or change the fragrance as your mood changes! Living in Colorado the weather changes hourly. So I can change my fresh spring scent to a warm homey smell as the temperature outside drops and I grab my favorite blanket.
2. No open flame.
Anyone with kids or pets can seriously relate to this one. As much as I loved candles, the thought of an open flame in my rented apartment was always a concern. With my dog, I'm always going outside to play or going for a walk. And I would have to remember to blow out the candle. And going to the store or out to dinner? Half way there... "Did I blow out that candle?" Not a concern with Scentsy. You can leave it on all day and never had to worry about that open flame. It never gets hot enough to cause any problems. And while we're on the subject of blowing out candles, what about that nasty smoke smell afterwards? Again, not a issue with the Scentsy system.
3. Very affordable
So with candles if you wanted to change the fragrance in your house you would have to buy many different candles and we all know how expensive the good ones are. But with Scentsy, once you have a warmer, it only costs you $5 to change the way your house smells.
Downside to Scentsy?
Like I said, I couldnt find much at fault with this product, but here are a few things that some people might find odd.
1. The fragrance does fade.
Unlike with candles that you can burn for hours on end, the scent in the wax you are melting will fade over time and it will need to be replaced. I read online that a bar of wax will produce at least 80 hours of fragrance, but periodically you will have to change out the wax in your warmer.
2. Disposing of the wax.
I know it says you can put it straight into your trashcan, I havent tried it, but I just dont trust it. I always find something else to put it in before I throw it out. It can be as easy as a empty soda can or a paper towel. I just dont want to have to pick wax out of the bottom of my trash can. And never pour it down the sink!

I've only PCSed once, but the way I made our house feel like our home was to put my pictures. Friends, family, pets, and so on. When things are up on the walls, it feels like home.
Oh, and I signed up as a follower of your blog :)
I haven't been a military wife for very long and haven't experienced a PCS change yet. But moving from home to live with my, now husband, I didn't do much to make it a home. lol! I am just starting the process now. I am starting to think a lot about colors for the home and decor, looking for frames for pictures. Any cards I get from family, I put out. It's just the little things.

Since we are AGR, we don't move nearly as often as others. And all of our moves have been less than 3-4 hours away.
In order to make our new home feel like home, I like to get everything unpacked immediately. If I had my way, I wouldn't go to sleep until everything was put away in its place!
I'm also a follower :-)

Okay, I feel sometimes that I am unique because I haven't moved around everytime my hubby has. I like working and having my career and anytime he has moved it wouldn't be for a long time so we have always decided that it would be best for me to stay put at fort hood and maintain my career (first an engineer and then a switch to ha math teacher) while he goes to schools and whatever else. But if I had moved with him I would want to have pictures of friends/families and nice sheets to make it feel like home. Being comfy while I sleep and my photographic memories helps. That is my plan for our move to Korea this summer. :)

Since I haven't technically PCSed yet, I can't say. However, I use my cows & Scentsy stuff to help make this new place like home. Well, and leaving my hubby's clothes in place till laundry day lol.

So far I have made 1 move since my husband and I have been in the army and it was a major change. We went from trees, grass, and flowers to Desert lands...so making the desert feel like home takes a while like growing grass...hehehe. I have done a few things in the mean time to make it feel like I am back home. I have floral decor all over in my living room (not real floral though at least not yet) including floral curtains. I have lived most my life in Kansas so the the sunflower is one of my favorite flowers and I use them in my decor along with roses. I have a pool table in my dining room because where I come from shooting pool is big. I also have planted a small garden and I have peppers, tomatoes, herbs like catnip for my kitty's and sunflowers. It is hard to grow things here but you get much more gratification when it does grow. I have spent all my life around family until I moved here to El Paso Texas where I have no relatives. I have pictures of them everywhere. The best part of making my home feel like home, is God. Where I go he is there and there is no better feeling than that. He is the foundation of my home no matter where home is.

I'm not PCSing, but hopefully moving to a new apartment here soon, and I was thinking about what I would do first after I get my place, and I IMMEDIATELY thought to myself, drive my scentsy over and plug it in RIGHT AWAY!! Then run a load of laundry. It must be the smells that make me feel like I am home. The smell of whatever is in my scentsy and fresh clean laundry!!!

Thank you for allowing military spouses be honored with your product.
I was never part of a PCS move directly as my parents were divorced, however, it was difficult to keep in touch with my dad as he moved around. The great thing was that I experienced different places without being completely taken out of my element.
My soldier is my husband and is AGR in the National Guard and even though we do not live on a fort, the fear of being moved around is much more likely nowadays. The truth is that the move will not be too far away, but the drive will be a burden for my soldeir as we will not move. WE will also be affected if he is moved as the time at home will be less as the drive will take some of that time up. So this still will affect us if he is moved to another unit.
Being in the military no matter active duty or Nationa Guard, the fear of moving and being flexiblity and adpatable is part of the job.
Please enter me in the contest. Thanks!

My husband & I have been married for almost 6 months now, and our house is slowly but surely becoming a home. When I first stepped into the house I felt like I was back in college in a boys dorm room with posters and football jerseys all over the walls. My husband had been living in our house by himself for close to 5 months, so he had surely added his own touches. Soon I started putting some pictures together and asking him to hang them up which began to replace his beer posters. The last thing we did to make our house more of a home was the best decision ever, we decided to adopt a puppy from our local shelter. Yes, he may make it smell a little bit, but his love for us surely makes it a home.

i have yet to PCS due to the fact that my hubby is still in AIT but we are moving to be closer to him. the first thing i do when i move into a new house/apartment to make it feel like home is pack the fridge with goodies and make beds. Then i get down to the real unpacking.

I am currently in the middle of my first move as a mil spouse. Not PCSing, just a new apartment. When I got the keys to the place, the only thing I had in the car to move in, was my Scentsy. Then clothes and pictures. But that Scentsy baby was the only thing in the apartment for the first day. HAHA! I relate a lot of life experiences and memories to smells and that Scentsy, just made me feel so much better. When I walked in the door, the place had my chosen smell. MY SMELL! It was great!
